First up is Sugar on Snow by Nan Parsons Rossiter. This one takes place in New England in the present day--it's about two brothers who help their mom and dad with the sugaring from start to finish. My parents gave this one to us a few years ago and we always enjoy it! It has beautiful illustrations that I just love.
The other Sugar on Snow is by Nancy Dingman Watson, and it is out of print. The cheapest I found it on Amazon is $23! We were privileged to find a used copy (minus a dust jacket) several years ago for a lot cheaper than that. :) My sister and I used to love getting this book out of our local library when we were children. It's about a family who does sugaring, and especially one of the girls--named Cait--who is hoping for sugar on snow for her birthday.
I know there probably aren't a whole lot of books written about sugaring season, but if you happen to know of any others or have favorites of your own, please share! I'd love to hear about them. If you want to read more info on the books listed above, you can click on the pictures to find them on Amazon.

A few years ago at a library bag sale, I picked up The Sugaring Off Party, and we try to read it in the spring. It doesn't have that much of the process, but it's a fun wrap-up book. It has French Canadian culture throughout; fun memories of northern Maine for me!
