Julia at 8 months

Today is Julia's 8-month birthday!! It seems crazy that she is already 2/3 of a year old. She is starting to get really mobile now. She still doesn't do an exact "crawl," but she is quite capable of getting herself where she wants to go. She does this sort of little hopping crawl. She'll move her hands forward, then lift up both knees at once and jump. I have a feeling that a genuine crawl will be happening any day now. She also now enjoys getting into a lot of stuff, particularly Sam's toys (I see more lessons in sharing in his future) and things we don't want her to get into, like paper. She's learned that it is fun to make noise in new ways, such as hitting a toy against the table or floor, or slapping her hands on the table. She still doesn't have any teeth (well, we think her bottom middle teeth are through, but just not pushing up out of the gum very far yet). She still nurses a lot and I haven't started solids yet, although Jim still likes to sneak her little bits of stuff off his plate. :) I'm not sure how much she weighs--I'll have to stand on the scale with her after her bath and try to get a general idea.

She continues to be a pretty easy-going kid. She did fairly well being passed around to new people while we were visiting Jim's family, although she still doesn't seem to be a big fan of any men except her daddy.

I just checked her weight--rough estimate: 19 lbs.! She'll have her 9 mo. checkup at the end of January, so we'll see what the dr's scale says then.

Her sleep habits have been kind of wacky over the past few weeks, so that's something I hope to work on again in a little while. I'm hoping to move her into the crib in Sam's room sometime in the next month or two, but I have hopes of getting her back to sleeping all night before I make the switch. We'll see how it goes!

In other news . . . I was able to order an Ergo carrier yesterday, which I have been wanting for some time. We had some Paypal $$ saved up from selling some stuff on Ebay before Christmas, and Jim said I could go ahead and use it all for the Ergo. I found this site, Along for the Ride, which is currently having customer appreciation days. Using their coupon code saved me 10% off the order, which totally made my day! :) I had almost the exact amount of Paypal that I needed to buy it; actually, I had .85 more than what I needed! I thought I was supposed to get a free mirror instead of the 10% off, but when I used the code, it gave me the discount. I see today they have clarified the promotion wording to explain how to get the mirror. So I'm glad I ordered it yesterday, as I'd rather have the discount! I'll be sure to post a full review after I get it and try it out, to let you all know how I like it.

Well, I guess I'd better wrap this up for now . . . have a wonderful weekend!
