Writer's Cramp :)

I keep thinking of things to blog about and then I keep forgetting what they are; either that, or I don't have time to write all that I want to, so I just skip it. But anyway, I did want to at least write a little something today.

We had a lovely fall weekend here. On Saturday morning, my mom and I did a yard sale at her house. I made about $20 and she made about $8. (I had a lot more stuff to sell than she did!) Well, I still have a lot to sell . . . so we are going to try again on the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend. Hopefully I'll get rid of some more stuff then. We have WAY too much junk around here, and it feels good to get rid of some of it, but I hope to ruthlessly clean out even more over the next year and have another yard sale next summer. Whatever I don't sell this time around, will go to the second-hand store or the dump. I think Columbus Day will be a better weekend to attract people for yard sales, though. And we'll probably put an ad in the paper this time, too.

Our power was out for 2 3/4 hours this morning because a dead tree fell over on the lines. I heard this crash and suddenly everything shut off, around 7:30 am. Fortunately we had just finished breakfast, so I was done opening and closing the fridge, etc. I took Sam down into the garage so I could use the phone there (the only corded one we have) to call and report the outage, but although I tried about 5 times, "all agents were busy" each time I called. As soon as we got back upstairs, a power company truck arrived, so apparently they had had some other people call it in. They had to work on the lines for quite a while before the power was back; I think that some of the lines may have been broken from the tree. It was kind of fun to have a bird's eye view of all the excitement from our living room windows. :)

Right after lunch, a friend of mine came to visit with her 2 little boys. One is four, and the other is two. They and Sam had fun playing together. Sam was really tired, though; he hadn't taken his usual morning nap, so after they left, he conked out and is still asleep. He slept all night last night, which was wonderful. I'd say he has been sleeping all night long about half to three-quarters of the time, the past several weeks. He is getting much better about letting us know when he's tired and wants to go "night-night," and we usually try to get him in bed by around 8:30 anyway. I would like to make it even earlier than that, but in order for him to have some good "Daddy time," it usually works out better for him to stay up a while so they can play together, take a bath, and unwind before bed.

Well, for someone that had writer's cramp, I seem to have filled up a pretty long entry. :) You all know I'm a chatterbox anyway, right? :) I just thought of a couple other things to post, too, but I want to make them separate entries. So off I go to do that next!
