Papa

Jim's grandfather, affectionately known to all of us as "Papa," passed away last night. We are thankful for the long life that God gave him, and for all the special memories we have of him. Nearly three years ago, he and Grandma came to visit us here in NH, along with Jim's aunt who drove them out here. How special it was to have them here in our home, and to get to show them some of our favorite places in the state. Every year when we go to Ohio for Christmas, we get to spend time with them at their home. This year we knew it might be our last time to see Papa, as his health was failing quickly. We're thankful that we all got to be together as a family and that Papa could enjoy his seven great-grandkids one more time. I'm also glad that we got these pictures of Julia and Josiah with him, and wish I had thought to get one of him with Sam, too. This was Josiah's only chance to meet the man he is named after (his middle name, Charles, was Papa's first name) and I know he won't remember him, but it will be nice to be able to show him this picture in the future.
And here is a picture of Papa and Grandma with all of their great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed! Please keep Jim's grandma in your prayers, if you think of her. They had been married over 67 years, and life without him will be a difficult adjustment, I'm sure.

These are precious pictures, Carrie. I will be praying for Jim's grandmother and for everyone else. His Papa looked like a sweet and joyful man.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. You will definitely treasure those pictures in the years to come. We have a picture of my grandfather holding Ethan (Ethan was born on his birthday) and one of Matt's dad holding Ethan (taken 3 months before his dad passed away). You're right; It's so great to be able to show the kids the pictures and explain who those men were.
