I made out a list a few weeks back of all the sewing projects I want to make, and to give myself some motivation, I'm trying to make it into a little challenge. My goal is to finish at least one project each week, and hopefully two projects if they're small. We'll see how it goes. Here's what's on my list right now:
~Laundry sorter (finished, as of yesterday!!)
~Red flowered maternity shirt (nearly complete--just need to finish sleeves and hem)
~Late Christmas gift for someone who reads this blog
~Late birthday gift for someone else who reads this blog
~Maternity jumper (I'm embarrassed to admit that I started cutting this out when I was pregnant with Julia, and never finished it)
~Blue flowered maternity shirt
~Fleece robe for Jim (also a late Christmas gift--it's all cut out but needs sewing)
~Summer dress for Julia (partially sewed--and I'm hoping it will still fit her next summer!)
As you can see, I'm good at starting projects and then forgetting to finish them. :) I'm hoping that by setting a goal of 1-2 projects a week, I'll be able to get these all finished before the new baby comes. It will feel good to have the various piles of fabric turned into wearable or useable items rather than just taking up space in our office/sewing/ironing room!
Here is the finished laundry sorter. I was quite happy with how it turned out, since I kind of threw it together. The bins came out larger than the old ones (the old ones used to be larger, till I dried them in the dryer--oops), so that will be nice.

I'm drooling over the laundry sorter...that is beautiful! I have a list a mile long of sewing projects, too. My ambitions always get ahead of reality!!!
Carrie, I'm impressed with your industriousness! I am no seamstress - even though I took the classes & participated in 4-H sewing projects for years. I hope you're able to get it all done & I do love the look of your laundry sorter. That plaid material is way cooler than any old plain cream colored laundry sorter I've seen ;-)
Wow! Good job Carrie!! Your successes make me long for a sewing machine more than ever. I'm not a great seamstress but I manage:). Two of my sisters are incredible and then there's me - hee, hee. One of these days, I hope to find a great deal on one. I think that I could make my own window treatments, they don't have to be complicated to look nice. Congrats on all of your new things - love the laundry sorter:).
That sorter looks great! Once we're more settled in our new house, I *plan* to finish a set of cloth napkins that I started months ago. Out of 12, only 2 are done so far and they only take a few minutes each to complete. I look forward to seeing your completed projects!
I can't get over how ambitious you are! Wow! Wanna make a laundry sorter in your spare time? :) And you must model those new maternity shirts for us when you get them finished!
I love that laundry sorter you made!!! You should sell them! LOL I absolutely want one!!! LOL you did a great job!
