Cleaning Challenge--Bathrooms--Day 2

I got a little more done in both bathrooms today. I cleaned the counters and sinks, washed the mirror, and scrubbed the toilet in the extra bathroom. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it took some time to do a thorough job. You can see here how the sinks/counters look now. We do have a LOT of stuff on the master bath counter, because we don't have a medicine cabinet type of storage in there yet. Maybe eventually . . . This works fine, but it is a lot of stuff to clean around, so someday it would be nice to have a little less cluttered vanity. :)

And a little random chatter . . .

I apologize that I am STILL not caught up on comments; I have good intentions but I just haven't gotten it done. I am so happy that some of you have been able to do the challenge along with me; it helps keep me motivated. :)

We never did go and get our free Ben & Jerry's today . . . we thought about it, but it was an icky, rainy day, and the closest shop is about 25-30 minutes away, so we decided to skip it this year. Now that I know about it, I'll keep it in mind for next year.

I made a super yummy recipe for supper--Ham, Potato, and Cheese Soup. I was looking for a recipe to use up leftover ham from Easter, and was in the mood for a soup with these ingredients, so I went searching online. This recipe was so delicious!! I changed a few things--first, I cut it in half so I was only making 6 servings rather than 12. I used 6 cups of liquid--3 c. chicken broth and 3 c. water, to cover the ham and potatoes. I left out the onion and put in a chopped green onion instead, and a little onion powder and garlic powder. And I left out the flour, just using the mashed potato for thickening. And I used only half the amount of Velveeta that it called for. I also used some whipping cream instead of milk. It made the soup richer than milk would have, but I wanted to use it up rather than let it go bad. (I had just about a half cup left from a previous recipe.) I also crumbled up some leftover bacon to garnish the soup. Let me tell you, this was not health food, but it was definitely comfort food. :) Jim and I both loved it, and I will be putting it on my make-again list!

I'm hoping to put up a book review post in a day or two--just another thing I'm behind on! But although I'm behind on blogging, I'm happy to say that I'm catching up on my housework. :) Which is definitely most important!! I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Both bathrooms look wonderful!

I got nothing done in either bathroom today other than the standard daily swish & swipe. Maybe tomorrow...

Your bathrooms look great!

So far this week, I have:

~cleaned the outside of the washer

~Removed, cleaned, and replaced the detergent/fabric softener dispenser

~Cleaned the cabinet in the laundry room.

~Re-organized the linen closet and washed down the doors and walls in the small hallway there.

~Thoroughly cleaned the main bathroom, scrubbing walls, floors, sink, tub, and toilet, wastebasket, and stool.

We don't keep much in the cabinet except for bath toys and extra tp, so no organizing needed there!

Our master bath is being mudded and sanded by my hubby this week in preparation for painting. I'm going to put the deep cleaning on hold in there until that is completed, of course. I would, however, like to clean out and re-organize our under the sink cupboard in there this week. I also would like to vacuum out our dryer lint trap (good to do regularly!), and give the floor in the laundry room a good scrubbing.

I have to say, I am really enjoying this challenge! Hubby asked me last night if I was nesting. LOL! I guess I need to be thoroughly cleaning more often! :)
