And now, the rest of the story . . .

Yesterday, Sam started in with the goopy eye thing. So today I took him in to the doctor, and . . . yes, he has an ear infection too. Same ear and everything! Craziness. So off we went to Walmart for another prescription; this time everything went smoothly. :)

I have to admit to being a bit discouraged. This weekend, I was so thankful that we were all back to good health, and now we are back to bad health again! We have missed so much church through the fall and winter so far, and I have just been frustrated with all this sickness because we are normally a healthy bunch. But this year, it seems that we are picking up every single thing that comes along. We take all kinds of vitamins, and Sam even takes a kids' multivitamin. We try to eat fairly healthy, most of the time. I guess I need to try some more immunity-boosting things . . . does anyone have any recommendations? I think I have some recipes in one of my books for immunity boosting soup, etc. But I would love to hear any other ideas. One simple thing that I need to do (which Jim suggested this evening) is make sure to wash the kids' hands every time we come home from church, the grocery store, etc. That would probably help a lot. It's just not something that I always think of.

I'm loading the kids up with plenty of yogurt to help build up the good bacteria in their systems, since the antibiotics kill off both the good and bad stuff. Thankfully, they both love yogurt! I also went to the library this evening and stocked up on videos--Monsters Inc. and Andre for Sam, and a bunch of Hercule Poirot movies for us. I've been in the mood for mystery/suspense lately, and the Poirots are just so much fun. (Well, I suppose it doesn't quite sound right to call murder mysteries "fun," but I love a good who-dun-it.:))

Anyway, I apologize that I didn't get the book feature post done after all--I think I will just wait till next week at this point. My brain is a little tired right now. :) Hope you all have a happy (and healthy!) weekend.

Carrie wash their hands with a baby wipe when you get them from their classrooms at church.Waiting until you get home is to late, the alcohol in the wipes will kill the germs. Most kids on average get 8-10 colds a year. Now that you have 2 it seems like your always sick because they are spreading it one to another.Hand washing is your best defense.

Margie, thank you for that wonderful advice!! I had thought of baby wipes, but wasn't sure if they would kill the germs or not. That's so good to know! And I really suspect that they pick up most of their germs at church, where so many kids are playing with the same toys. That, and shopping carts!

It was nice to see you on my blog, by the way! I know you read it, but it was fun to get a comment too. :) Have a great weekend!

I agree with Marge. I like to keep a travel pack of baby wipes in my purse/diaper bag so I can wipe down grocery carts before I put Chloe in them. I don't always remember to though!

Hi!
Just catching up on your latest posts. I read your Ergo one yesterday & when I was in town met a lady who had one - her 7mo. (22lb)was sound asleep in it. She got hers for around $50. on line I have not been able to find the place yet. I have my little guy on my back or in the sling a lot of the time. We are going to look into one. After reading about Julia's app. I weighed my little guy he is 23.5lb. Our trip to town sounds about as much fun as yours - our cupboards were empty & we had lots of errands so we took the day off from school. Did all the errands except getting food - My 4th oldest threw up in the car at Hannafords so we headed home. Thankfully we always have empty ice cream buckets in the car. Most are down with some kind of sickness. Hope everyone in your house is better soon.

Alicia--our grocery store actually supplies wipes for the carts, but I don't always remember to use them! And I always used to wipe down the Walmart carts with baby wipes, too, but got out of the habit since having Julia. I'm sure that would help a lot!!

Joey--that is neat that you met a lady who was using an Ergo! Wow, $50 is a GREAT price--I hope you can find the site to get one. Your little guy is a big boy! Or maybe Julia is just petite. :) Too bad about your kiddo getting sick . . . we had the stomach bug a few weeks ago and it was NO fun! I hope the rest of you can stay healthy. It was nice to hear from you--I'll try to email you soon! I think I owe you one! :) Take care.

Zan, where do you get the waterless soap? That sounds interesting.

At our church, Sam is in the 2 year old class for both Sunday School and the church service, so skipping SS wouldn't help as far as that goes. But I'm sure the hand washing directly after church will help a lot! :)
