My precious Family & Friends -- Good morning
I was released from St. Joe's hospital to home late Monday evening 8/21, and am doing well. My diagnosis is Metastatic Breast Cancer (sometimes referred to as Advanced Breast Cancer -- see www.Advancedbc.org). The breast cancer that appeared to be in remission in my treated breast actually found a way to travel via bloodstream or other source into my brain and outside the left lung, not to be confused with what we thought were going to be additional labels of brain & lung cancer. The brain piece will be initially treated w/14 days of radiation (maybe more if needed down the pike) to shrink the cancer cells and hopefully make them disappear completely (baby steps here). The lung and other areas that this thing may or may not be trying to escape to will be hit with a chemo pill (not sure how long will be on that, BUT, at least I know it is not being intreveniously pumped into my body, doesn't have caustic side affects like the other drug I was on 2 years ago, and I do not have to go to the office every day to get it.
I'm in great spirits, as is my family, trusting every moment to God. We are working to pick up the pieces to get homeschooling, bills, and get my ducks in a row. We are still hoping to take our family on vacation in Oct, if things go well. I'm looking forward to going to camp this weekend and enjoying fellowship and beginnings of Fall weather. Hopefully next week will be slower and I'll be available to field some calls. I'm sorry if I have overlooked getting back to anyone, I hope you will understand.
Please know that my family and I thank you for all the ongoing prayers, visits, and unbelievable support. I definitely can feel God working ever so in my heart and already see blessings coming out of this trial.
Take a moment in your day today to praise God, listen to the rain hit the
leaves and sputter under your car tires.
Love to all,
Kim

An Update on Kim
A couple weeks ago, I requested prayer for our friend Kim, who has cancer. She has given me permission to post this update, which she sent to family and friends last week. I was so encouraged and challenged by her great attitude and trust in God in the midst of such a trial. I'm sure others will be, as well! Please keep praying for her!!!
