A busy week

Well, it has definitely been a busy week for us! Actually, Monday was a pretty low-key day. On Tuesday, my mom came over for several hours and helped me clean out and rearrange my kitchen cupboards. Everything is organized much better now, and I was so thankful to have her help, so I didn't have to do a lot of bending down and getting back up. Also on Tuesday, my midwife came over for our home visit (as you can read more about on my pregnancy blog). On Wednesday evening, Jim's aunt and grandparents from Ohio arrived for a short visit. We spent all day Thursday driving them around to show them our beautiful mountains and other NH scenery. We all had a wonderful time, although we wished they could have stayed longer! Still, we were so thankful they were able to come at all, as this is the first time any of Jim's family has been able to visit us since our wedding, over 6 1/2 years ago! Once his parents retire, they will have a lot more time to be able to visit all their kids--we're looking forward to that. :) Of course, we get to see his family about once a year when we go out there for the holidays . . . still, it's just not often enough. Sam was very excited to see his great-grandparents and great-aunt, too! He warmed up to them all right away and talked their ears off. :)

Yesterday I had an eye appointment (just a checkup) and Jim and Sam did most of the grocery shopping while I was there. Afterwards we went to Walmart and finished up the shopping. I think I now have all the birth supplies I need . . . now I just need the baby to decide to come out, and we will be all set! :)

This morning my parents took us out for breakfast to a local "sugar shack" where they have huge portions--super yummy pancakes and omelettes, etc. We got so stuffed, that we definitely won't need to eat again until suppertime, if then! :) Today I've been trying to be somewhat industrious . . . I've done some laundry, and shortened the sleeves on a nursing nightgown that I bought at a local consignment shop for $1. It wasn't the best sewing job I've ever done, but that's OK . . . it's not like I'll be wearing it out in public! :) I also got my dishes washed, and now I've spent some good time blogging and catching up here. My next plan for the day is to make a couple batches of cookies and hopefully some brownies, too . . . so I can have plenty to put in the freezer for my sweet-tooth hubby, as I probably won't have a lot of baking time in a few weeks. I also need to do a bunch more laundry, and generally get the house in order for the coming week.

Hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend!

Hi Carrie!

Thank you for your sweet comment you left me on my blog! And yes, you're more than welcome to link to me....I'm honored that you'd want to!

I'm so glad that my idea about the olive oil cruet was helpful to you....and you're right, it's the little things that make the biggest difference sometimes! (o:

Sounds like you're getting all ready to have your baby. I wish you well and I'll be checking your blog to see how you're doing!

Lots to comment on! It sounds like you were SO productive today. Good for you! The deck looks so amazing! It will be so nice for you to spend some time out there with your kiddies this summer. And, Sam's hair cut looks great! He is SO adorable. I wish we could have a play date!

Mrs. B--I'll be adding your link soon; thanks! :)

Katie--I wish we could have a play date, too--Sam loves getting together with other kids. :) Thanks for the compliment on his haircut, as well. I was really happy with how it turned out. I agree; the deck is awesome, and we are loving it! Sam was pretty upset today because we wouldn't let him play outside (it's raining).

Hi Carrie,
I'm glad you had such a wonderful weekend and visit with family.

Please let me know how your homebirth goes. I have thought about it (of course NBBC won't allow it on campus right now), but I'm not sure that I would have the courage to have a baby at home (especially without any stadol). I'll be praying for you.

Tracy, I'll definitely be posting about my homebirth experience on my preg. blog when the time comes. :) I had a fairly easy labor with Sam (only about 5.5 hours) and made it through without any meds, so hopefully this time will be similar (and hopefully shorter)! I'm looking forward to being in the comfort of my own home. :) If you have time sometime, you can read about Sam's birth on my preg. blog; I think it's under the title "Sam's Birth Story."
