Affiliate links

I've been working on setting up some affiliate links in the sidebar to the left. (Under "Recommended Products and Stores.") So far I only have 2 on there; the first is an e-book, Momma's Guide to Thriving on One Income, and the second is a link to Amazon. I'm waiting for approval for affiliate programs from Eddie Bauer and the Brown Bag Gourmet Goodies company, as well. Some people generate a nice little extra income through affiliate programs; I don't expect to make a lot of money at it, but thought I would try some for the fun of it. I don't have time to add tons of stores, but now and then I will try to add more. It does take a while to set them up, but it doesn't cost anything, so that is nice! The way affiliate programs work (for those who may not know), is that I sign up with companies such as the ones I just listed, and they send me special links to their stores, which I then add to my blog. Then when someone clicks through to their store using my link, and buys something, I get a percentage of the total for my referral. Some companies pay their affiliates quarterly, others monthly, and you usually have to have between $10-$50 in earnings before they will pay you.

So, for what it's worth, keep watching for more links, and please use them (if you think of it) when you want to buy something from one of these companies! :)

I also changed some things with my hit counters . . . I added a new one that tells me how many hits I get, and I can then go and see the stats for those hits, such as how many people are getting to my blog through links on other sites, etc. . . . and then I put on a different one to tell me how many hits from unique users.
