Project: Simplify--Week 1

I was so excited a few weeks back when I saw that Simple Mom was going to be hosting Project: Simplify, tackling one hot spot every week for 5 weeks. You may have noticed the "I'm Decluttering" button on my sidebar--this is what that's all about. :)

This week she assigned the first hot spot: closets/clothes! What a great place to start. Now I have to explain right off the bat that what you see in my closets and wardrobe is probably not even half of my clothes. I have lots more down in storage, which I also need to sort through, because honestly--I just have way too many clothes, more than I could possibly need! But just sorting through my clothes that were "out" was a good start. I was able to find 20+ items, and 2 pair of shoes to give away. Most of it will go into a Planet Aid box, and 1 bag will probably go to friends to see if they want any of it. It felt really good to pare things down a bit.

Here are the before pictures of my closet and wardrobe:

And here are the after pictures:

Ahhh, much better. Okay, I know it doesn't look *that* much different, but I do have fewer clothes in there, and they're a lot more organized. :)

I'm excited to see what hot spot we will be tackling next week! It's not too late to join in, for any of you who are interested--even if you don't have a blog, you can take photos and post them to Flickr. You can see all the details about Project: Simplify here.

Good job, Carrie! I think your pics show improvement. Sometimes I just go through & refold things to make it look so much better. I'd join with this simplify project but I just bought some new clothes & it just might be too convicting :-) Heehee!

Yes, refolding makes everything look so much neater, and makes me feel better just because of that!! :) I refolded most of my clothes, and all of the sheets--which helped a ton!
