Chatter :)

It’s been an interesting weekend! A good weekend, overall. Yesterday was exciting for me, because some friends stopped by for supper on their way from VT to southern NH for a wedding. Actually, the wife/mom and I were friends in high school and haven’t seen each other for about 14 years! They have seven great kids, and our kids had a blast playing with them! It was such a special treat and blessing to spend time fellowshipping and catching up on each other’s lives. Hopefully we will not have to wait 14 more years before the next time we get together! :)

The “interesting” aspect of yesterday (and today) was dealing with a teething Josiah. I’ve only ever seen him *that* fussy a few times before. He was drooling most of the day, too--the front of his shirt was soaked. Today he wasn’t quite as fussy, but still drooling lots. I’m not sure which teeth he’s working on now; he’s got 4 on top and 2 on the bottom that are already through, but there definitely must be more getting ready to come in! To add to everything, Sam started complaining of a headache this afternoon. He does get occasional headaches, but this one seemed particularly bad and had me rather concerned. Then Julia started saying that she didn’t feel good, and she felt really warm to the touch. Jim took her temp and it was over 102. Later, she threw up and Sam said he felt like he had to (but never did). So I decided to get subs to cover my church responsibilities tomorrow and we’ll all stay home. I didn’t really want to leave Jim to deal with them by himself; they can sometimes be quite a handful when they don’t feel well! I feel bad that we unknowingly exposed our friends to some kind of bug last night--I hope they don’t get it!!

Today was a lazy day, which was fun for a change! Other than dealing with sick little ones, it was a nice, relaxing day. I planned to sew a skirt for myself . . . then I got digging through some leftover fabric from other projects, and came across a rather large piece of the fabric that I used to make Julia a 4th of July dress last summer. Seeing how much material there was, I got inspired to make her a pair of patriotic capris! Since I’d want them to be ready for next weekend, I made them today and will save the skirt project for another day. I also came across enough leftover fabric from some capris I made her a couple years ago, to make one of those cute little skirts with the ribbon hem. It’s fun to use up some of my stash in new little projects!! I think I’m going to have to learn to quilt, too--I have so many odds and ends of fabric that I’d love to use up sometime!

Thanks to everyone who commented on my new blog background! I’m enjoying the change. Thanks to a friend’s blog, I found out about AquaPoppy Designs, which is where this background came from. The owner, Chelsea, has her own blog design business, and she also very generously has a bunch of gorgeous backgrounds available for free! There are lots and lots to choose from, and the install was super easy--literally just a quick copy and paste! I highly recommend her site--check it out if you’re interested in a new bloggy look! :)

Sorry I missed posting A Homemade Life this weekend--I may be able to get a post up tomorrow since we’ll be home all day. I have lots of things to share, so I’m hoping I have time to do it! I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!!

I hope your sick kiddo's are much better today! It is nice to have a day at home to just putter, isn't it? After the wedding, I'm looking forward to some time like that!
