A Homemade Life

I think I will try to do the Homemade Life posts on Fridays from now on--just makes more sense to me since it would be easier to look back over the week and see what we did that was homemade. :) This week it ended up being posted Saturday, as I started the post yesterday but didn't have time to finish it due to having a busier Friday than normal. I didn’t do as much "homemade" this week as I would have liked, but I did make a birthday card for our nephew Isaac (who turned 7 this week--happy birthday, Isaac!!). He is into Star Wars right now, so I thought a Yoda card would be fun. Here it is:I also made homemade bagels from Tammy’s Recipes for the second time. I forgot to take a picture, but you can see much better pictures at her site, anyway! Jim thought they didn’t come out fluffy enough; I think maybe I boiled them a bit too long. They are easy to make though, and definitely cheaper than store-bought. We like to make yummy egg, bacon and cheese sandwiches out of ours sometimes (did that for supper one night), but they are also good with just butter or whatever other toppings you like to put on them.

And we also made heart-shaped rice krispie treats for Valentine's Day, following the instructions here. They were easy and yummy, although strangely enough, neither Sam nor Julia cared for them much (other than the chocolate part). I guess my kids are a little weird. :)
So, what did you guys do that was homemade this week? Feel free to share a link in the Mr. Linky or leave a comment!

If you've never used a Mister Linky, here's how it works: In the first space, type your first name, and if you'd like to specify what your post is about, you can add that in parentheses. In the second space, copy and paste the URL of the blog post you want to link to. Mister Linky will automatically ask you to leave a comment on my post, but you don't need to, unless you want to. :) Anyway, it's fairly simple and hopefully will be fun for everyone.

I made homemade granola bars last week, but this week we made homemade colds! LOL. I look forward to participating in the weeks to come!

You made some really nifty things, Carrie! I have a recipe for homemade bagels I have been wanting to try, so I am encouraged to do that now.

When I really take time to think about it, there are many, many things I make homemade that I can share for this feature. Thanks for hosting it!

I LOVE that Yoda card...so cool! I worked on Hannah's quilt last week and it's almost done. I hope to finish it this week.

Thanks for the card, Isaac loved it!

We were also able to make a birthday card this week, two kinds of bread and get some more done on the gift for my mom.

Great yoda card! You will HAVE to tell me the secret to the bagels. I tried them once and totally botched them. Use tammy's recipe though, I did not.

I almost made baklava this week. Does that count? And I cut out pieces to dress for Chloe. :) Oh, and we made LOTS of homemade v-day cards for friends and family.

This week I seasoned one of my cast iron pots using the instructions you linked to on a previous post. I also made chocolate sugar cookies with the kids for valentines day. We did hearts & stars (because hearts were just too girly for my little guy he had to have stars :) ).
