I had a nice 5 days blogging break . . . although I confess, I did keep up with a few of my favorite blogs . . . but I refrained from opening my Google Reader until last night! :) I didn’t get as much done here at home as I’d liked, though. We had a rather busy week! Monday was a really fussy day for Josiah, so I had a hard time getting things done in the house that day. Tuesday was voting and a few other errands, plus baking regular bread and pumpkin chocolate chip bread. Wednesday, we had a friend and her 2 boys over for part of the day, which was great fun! Thursday was spent at home, and then we did grocery shopping that night. And yesterday, I baked two apple pies in the morning, then my Grammy and uncle Andrew stopped by for a visit, and soon after that we headed out to visit friends for the afternoon and evening. So anyway, the Christmas crafting has been hit and miss (mostly miss), and today I’m trying to find the bottom of the laundry pile(s). My goal is to get ALL the laundry washed, dried, and put away before going to bed tonight!! We’ll see if I can actually do that. Oh, and I need to bake more bread . . . we somehow have gone through four loaves in about four days . . . so that’s one more thing to add to the list. And making granola, which we’ve been out of for several days. And here I sit, blogging. :)
My mom and dad are on their way home from the West today, after visiting my sister and her family. Lucky ducks!! I am hoping and hoping that maybe by next year, we’ll have enough saved up to go visit them too. I’ve never been further than the midwest, but I dearly want to go!
A very sad thing happened on Thursday when I was grocery shopping. Now I think I may have mentioned that about some things, I am a snob as far as brands or “real” foods. I do buy a lot of generic stuff, too, but I prefer real butter, King Arthur flour, etc. . . . and one thing that we especially prefer to be “real” is our maple syrup. We live in NH, for crying out loud! It’s a travesty to buy the fake stuff! BUT, we will now have to give up real maple syrup, at least temporarily. I about fainted when I saw that the store brand is up to over $36 for a half gallon. Yowza!! The last time I bought it (which I think was less than six months ago), it was around $16 for the same size bottle. I can’t believe it’s more than doubled since then. Crazy. So, farewell, my dear maple syrup. We will miss you!
Well, I better go tackle more chores! Hope everyone is having a happy weekend!

I'm with you on the K.A. flour! I'll sacrifice in other areas of my grocery bill but NOT on the K.A. flour:). So sorry about the maple syrup prices:(. My husband likes the fake stuff but I like the real maple syrup. If I have a bit of wiggle room in my grocery budget one week, I'll get a small glass jar of it. Real syrup is soooo much better than the fake "maple syrup":).
