Our baby turned 6 months old last Friday!! He's getting to be so much fun. Well, I guess I always say that . . . I love every age. :) He had his 6 mo. checkup today; here are the stats: 16 lbs, 5 oz., 26 3/4" long. Just for fun, I went back and looked up my other kids' weight and length at 6 mos. Sam was 18 lbs, 14 oz., 26 1/2" long, and Julia was 16 lbs. 7 oz., 24 1/2" long. Holy moley! I didn't realize Sam was such a chunk at that age!! Julia too--short and fat! It will be interesting to see if Josiah continues the trend of being "long and lean" (although he doesn't look the least bit skinny--he's got plenty of rolls. :)).
**Warning: Rant here-- I don't know what is up with this, but several of my most recent appts. for the kids have been with a student/intern. I mean, the regular dr. or nurse practicioner is there too, but the student does most of the checkup. It doesn't bother me, only it gets old when the student is trying to get everything "just right" and goes over all the safety stuff that I've heard a jillion times before. This is my third kid, for Pete's sake!! :D I know, I know, they're just trying to get a good grade . . . but it makes for a longer appt. It also gives me a good inward chuckle, though . . . when they tell me things like, "Now this place on his head, this is the soft spot . . . you have to be careful of that . . . it feels like it's not quite closed up yet . . . " Um, yeah--I happen to know what the soft spot is. This does happen to be my baby and I'm quite familiar with him. OK, end of rant. :)**
Anyway, back to Josiah. He's not doing a ton of new stuff yet. He is "talking" a lot more and grabbing things, putting more stuff in his mouth and constantly chewing toys and his fingers. He still doesn't roll from from back to tummy, though he's proficient at tummy to back. He doesn't like playing on the floor much yet, but really enjoys his hop 'n pop and still loves his swing. He usually takes 2 good naps a day, and sometimes sleeps all night, but not usually. I haven't started him on solids yet, but probably will pretty soon . . . within a month or so, maybe. Here's another picture of our happy guy:
And just for fun, here are pics of Sam and Julia at around 6 mos. What do you think, can you tell they're related? :)

They're all so beautiful! I think that Josiah, while he resembles his siblings, really takes after your husband. Both your boys have your eyes, though. "Wonderfully made" :)
Ok, the intern and safety stuff would irk me, too. One of my biggest pet peeves of peds in general is when/if they talk down to me or make me feel inferior, like I don't know what's going on. One of the things I like about your Dr is he never did that! I guess a "bright side" of your situation is that the intern is learning from the best!
Josiah is such a sweet baby. And they're all so cute! Yes, you can defnitely tell they're siblings! :)
What a cute fuzzy-headed little guy:). I must say that you had a funny rant. At least you were kind and understanding to the student/intern even though you were probably trying to stifle a yawn:).
I have not had an intern examine my boys before although I had a nurse who was inexperienced at giving shots, give Marcus his 2 month shots. She was sooooooo slow and nobody told me that my baby was going to be practiced on. I was so upset at them but after calming down, praying about it and counting my blessings, I got a grip. At his 4 month appt. I was "armed and ready" but thankfully, an experienced nurse gave him his shots.
You can definitely tell that you children "come from the same mold". They are precious, that is for sure:).
I loved the 3 pictures of the kids at the same age. One of my kids walked in and asked if the were triplets. If our Ruthie continues her weight gain of almost a pound a week she will have caught up to Josiah by the time she is 3 months. At 3 weeks and 1 day she was up to 11 lbs. 4 oz. My midwife and I just cracked up. It will be really fun if we get to see you all next summer. Thanks for the e-mail! Glad to hear your back to blogging. I am way behind on e-mails, but school, office, & house need to get on track first. -Joey
OH WOW they definitely DO look related! I'm excited to see how our boys will or won't resemble one another as they grow. I'm also wondering if they will have similar growth patterns. This time around, I'm having none of this "every 2 months" business. :-) I told the doc I'd see him in 3 months. Probably next time, it will be even less...but we will see!
