I just have to write a post about my sling, because it has become one of my favorite pieces of baby gear ever. To be honest, I never thought I would get hooked on a sling. I had been given a hand-me-down ring sling of some sort before I had Sam, and I tried to figure it out with both him and Julia, and never got the hang of it. Consequently, I decided I must just not be a sling-type mom, and happily used my Snuglis (and later the Ergo) instead. I still do like my front and back carriers and use them some (and I know I’ll use the Ergo a lot more after Josiah gets older), but I am totally in love with my sling. My sister told me so much about hers (and then even sent me gift money towards getting my own), that I decided it was worth trying again. The one I got (the same kind she has, too) is a Mamma’s Milk pouch sling. It is super easy to figure out and I love that I can just slip it on and off--no straps or buckles to mess with. Josiah loves it and will stay contented in it for a long time, especially now that he can sit up and look out more.
The Mamma’s Milk slings are adjustable with heavy duty Velcro, which is a handy feature. I can get just the fit I want, plus if Jim ever wants to use it, he can adjust it to fit him. To be honest, I wasn’t as crazy about the colors and patterns of the slings . . . I had been eyeing some of the really pretty Hotslings designs, and also liked a lot of the Kangaroo Korner pouch colors. But I decided on Mamma’s Milk because of the adjustable feature. Plus, I got an awesome deal on a brand new one on Ebay. :)
Anyway, all that to say that I highly recommend pouch-style slings! And I even stumbled across a free pattern for one that’s very similar to mine, only non-adjustable . . . for anyone who might be interested. Here’s the link.
I’ve gotten more comments on my sling than I ever expected. Lots of people mention how comfortable Josiah looks in it, or comment on how cute he looks sitting up in there. And I just enjoy having an easy grab-and-go, comfy way to tote my little guy. My rating: 5 stars for my Mamma’s Milk pouch. :)

I have a ring-sling and I've only used it a handful of times with Clive. Clive is so wiggly that I can never seem to get it tight enough! I too use a baby carrier (Snugli) that is ok but I could do without all the crazy straps and buckles. I'll keep your advice in mind though in the unlikely event we have a third munchkin. Josiah is looking so much like Sam already!
