Today we had our first beach day of the summer--yay! Last summer we went to the beach with some friends just about every week, but this summer we're not doing that--we need to save gas, plus it's a bit more complicated anyway with three kids now! And yes, I'm sure all my friends who have a lot more than 3 kids are laughing at me since I think life is crazy with three. :) Anyway, we picked up my mom and met up with several other moms and kids at the lake, and we all had a nice time. The weather was perfect. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures because my camera battery was dead, but I did take some with my mom's camera, so I'll have some to post later. Both Sam and Julia had a great time in the water and sand. Josiah spent quite a bit of time in his swing, under a sun shelter tent thingy, and seemed to really enjoy the time outside. We had all brought different parts of the lunch, and everyone's contributions were very yummy. At one point a thunderstorm came through and the lifeguards made everyone get out of the water. It was fun to watch the lightning across the lake, but we were thankful that the storm circled around us and it never actually rained. We were able to swim more after a while, and then when we got ready to go, another storm came along, but we got everything packed up and started on our way home before the rain came. All in all it was a really fun day, and I hope we can go a few more times this summer.
I love it when I can find good deals, and tonight I ordered new contacts for an excellent price. In past years, I've bought my contacts from Walmart's vision center as that was where I found the best price. Then a few years ago, my eye doctor was able to match Walmart's price, so lately I've just been ordering them from him. I had an eye appt. a couple of weeks ago, and needed to order new contacts, but they said the lady who orders them would call me, and I never heard from her. In the meantime, I had read online about Vision Direct, and checked out their prices. I finally called the lady at the eye doctor and asked what their price for contacts was, and sure enough, I could do a lot better through Vision Direct, so I asked her to send me my prescription. I also realized I could go through Ebates for even greater savings (7% cash back), plus there is a $20 rebate I can get for buying 8 boxes of contacts (a year's supply). Woohoo!! I figure after all the discounts offered through Vision Direct (free shipping, $8 off for buying 8 boxes, and $10 off coupon code), plus the cash back and rebate, I'll save over $60. Last time I bought them through my eye dr., I paid over $19/box. This time, I should be paying under $12/box. I must say, that's pretty exciting!
There are still a few hours left to enter the giveaways if anyone still wants to! Thanks to all for your enthusiastic response. I hope to do more giveaways in the future! And for those who asked, I am still hoping to make burpcloths to sell . . . eventually. Once my little guy starts being able to amuse himself a little more, and nursing a little less. :) We'll see! Well, after this busy day I think I need to go spend some snuggle time with my hubby, and then head for bed. Hope you all have a great night! And I'll be announcing the giveaway winners sometime tomorrow, so stay tuned for that!
