Works of God Monday
Today I have several works of God to share! First is one that I wanted to share last week, but just didn't have time. This is our new car!!
Jim has been concerned for some months now that with the price of gas, our Suburban was getting to be too expensive to run, especially because we drive a good distance to go to church each week. Between gas and diesel for our 2 vehicles, we were spending between $300-$500 a month in fuel. Crazy! So he has been looking online for other vehicle options for our "family car" that would get better gas mileage. Most of the ones he was interested in were more than we wanted to spend, but after several weeks of searching, he came across this Ford Escape on Craig's List. It's a 2001, and though the miles were a bit higher than we liked, the price was much more affordable than anything else in the same size or year, so we decided to check it out. When we got to the house where it was, we found the seller was an older widow. She was sooo nice, and insisted that the kids and I come inside while Jim took the Escape for a drive. I was concerned about the kids coming in because it was a VERY nice house, and I was worried they might break something! But I could tell that she actually really enjoyed having little children to visit with, and it was a blessing for me to have a comfortable place to sit and nurse Josiah. When it was time to leave, she even offered us a whole box of Girl Scout cookies!
Jim really liked the car, and although I hadn't driven it yet, I really liked it too, and God impressed on both of us that this was the one meant for us. The price we ended up paying was just a bit more than the amount of money we got back in our tax return. Praise the Lord!! And we can even fit all 3 carseats in the backseat, which was definitely high on our list of requirements. :D It is a really fun car to drive and we are enjoying it. Best of all, our first tank of gas got 22.5 mpg, as opposed to the Suburban, which typically got about 14-15 mpg. Yay!!
The second blessing was one of those "little things" that aren't really all that important, but a sweet little gift from God that shows how much He cares even about the smallest things in our lives! Several months ago, before I had Josiah, I had found a cute little feminine onesie, size 3-6 mos., at Kohl's, on sale for about $2 something. I got it, just in case I had another girl, but obviously I didn't, so I decided to pass it on to our new baby niece, Emily. It was such a cute little item, though--I just loved it, but I'd never seen another one like it. Anyway, when Jim's parents were visiting, we were doing a bit of outlet shopping and went in Carter's in search of bargains. Jim's mom got a couple things for Julia, and I was poking around a bit more, and happened to find the exact same onesie, in Julia's size--for $3.99!! Isn't that so cool? Now Julia and her cousin can match, albeit long distance. :) Here is Julia, sporting the new onesie and a pair of capris that her Grandma got for her! It's hard to tell how cute the onesie really is, but it's cream colored, with a cream collar that's embroidered with sweet little pink hearts, and a pink edging on the collar and sleeves, plus a pink bow--very girly!
Our third blessing for this week was our new couch! I don't have a picture of it because my living room is a mess right now, but sometime I'll show you all what it looks like. Here's the story behind the couch: A friend of ours was moving away from the area last summer, and put the couch up for sale. We offered to buy it, but in the meantime her son decided that he wanted it, so that was fine. Anyway, fast forward to last week, when our friend called and asked if we were still interested in the couch. Her son & family still had it, but had decided they wanted to get rid of it to make more room in their house, so it was ours if we wanted it! All we had to do was drive down to southern NH and pick it up. So now we have the huge, comfy couch that I've always dreamed of! Just another special "hug" from the Lord. :)
Hanging out on the old couch, which is sitting on the deck for now, till we decide what to do with it!
And that is my very long-winded works of God testimony for this week!! :) Be sure to check out Jenny's blog to see what blessings others have shared, and feel free to add your own works of God testimony in the comments!

All I can say is that GOD IS SO GOOD! That's awesome about the onesie and the car! God's love is amazing. May we remember these special blessings when we're down and thinking wrongly that He doesn't care or that He's too busy to help us. Thanks for sharing!
I love the new car! God is so good!
Congrats on your new car! We loved our SUV's while driving in the New England winter weather! It will be so nice to save all of that money on gas. I don't think that we spend quite as much as $500 but it's up near $300 a month to drive our Pathfinder!! Michael's motorcycle will definitely cut down on the gas money that we put out.
Julia's pigtails are adorable as is her awesome onesie:). It's so neat to see how God cares about not only our needs but also the little desires of our hearts.
I've been praying for you all and am so glad that you are feeling well and enjoying life as a mom of 3. :)
I always feel so happy after I read your blog. It shows me that I can rejoice in something as simple as a onesie, God does care about those little things too!
Glad your back to blogging, I always enjoy reading your blog.
I had to laugh that we both got couches this week & how the Lord worked it out. I had found one at the Salvation Army a couple of weeks ago, it was for our screened in porch - but by the time my husband had a chance to get it we called & it was gone. That was Sat. & on Sunday evening on our way home from Church - 2 houses away was a FREE couch. O.K. it is really nothing beautiful BUT it has a pull out & it was FREE! The funny thing was our neighbor had picked it up free a couple weeks before, but had decided it was to heavy and they are moving soon. So really God just moved it a lot closer to us!
I just loved Julia's pigtails - if she is anything like our girls - once we got rubber bands in their hair their hair took of growing , we don't know why, but it has happened with both.
Have a great day! I just realized it is Thursday. - Joey
