Busy Saturday

We have a busy day ahead! And thankfully, it looks like it's going to be a really beautiful day, too. At lunchtime, we are having a little combined birthday party for Jim and Julia. (Jim's birthday is tomorrow; Julia's was Apr. 29.) Unfortunately the presents I ordered for Jim haven't even been shipped yet, but that's OK--he knows what they all are anyway (he took me to the website and showed me the stuff he wanted :)). We made Julia's cake last night. I baked it and made the frosting colors, and Jim decorated it. It's a "Kipper the Dog" cake and I think she will really like it! I'll share pics later. Our library has some of the Kipper videos, and the kids have recently really gotten into them. I still need to make some ice cream, which I'm planning to do in a few minutes so it can have some time to harden a bit before we eat it. And then I need to make pizza dough.

Then later this afternoon, we're heading down the road to our friends' house for a cookout with 3 other couples and their kids. We don't get to all get together very often, so we are looking forward to it!! I'll be making a pasta salad and some hamburgers to bring to that.

Somewhere during the rest of the day I need to pick out all our clothes for church tomorrow, plan what I'm going to do for Sunday lunch (I'd like to make it a little special since it's Mother's Day, but I'm not sure how much extra time I'm going to have to cook!), and hopefully do a bit of housecleaning and laundry.

In other news, I'm happy to report that I've lost 23 of my pregnancy pounds (only about 13 to go!) and I've even been able to fit into one of my bigger skirts and a pair of jeans. Yay!! That was a very good feeling. :) I'm feeling really good and I think the recovery from Josiah's birth has been the fastest yet. Yesterday I had time to clean out the fridge, which made me feel really happy. It's been needing to be done for a very long time, and there were a lot of "science projects" in there to throw out! I still need to tackle the freezer, but I'm saving that for next week. I hope to tackle various other spring cleaning projects over the next few weeks, a little bit at a time. All of our windows need to be washed, dressers and closets need to be cleaned out and organized, etc. There is plenty to do, but I want to take it in little chunks so I don't crash. :)

Well, I am off to make ice cream now. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!!

You are something else!! I could use some of your energy right about now:). What a blessing that you feel well enough to do all that you are doing.

I'm looking into the Sleep Nest as I think that it's our best option. I am hoping that it will be what we need to get a better night's sleep. I don't think that the bassinet worked as well for me as I was recovering from the birth and learning how to nurse. There was too much "up and down" and a lot of sleep lost in the process.

BTW - How does it affect Jim's sleep? I am concerned that it'll interrupt my husband's sleep once he has to go back to work. Just curious:).
