On Sunday, we were visited by 3 deer. On Tuesday, Jim came home from work and there were 9 of them in the yard. I hadn't looked out the windows in a while and didn't even know they were there! Today I was heading out to get in the Suburban to go grocery shopping, and was busy watching my footing since our driveway is still full of mud and snow. I heard a noise and looked up to see 3 deer, white tails up, bounding off into the woods just a little ways in front of me. I went back to tell Jim, who was home today doing taxes. Upon looking out another window, he spotted another one further down in the woods by the driveway. While the kids and I were gone, he got to watch at least 4 of them meandering around the yard, and snapped this picture of one that came right up by the deck. I just now looked out the windows and counted 7 more at the edges of the woods, nibbling the trees and likely drinking from the brook. Lots of fun! I do find it somewhat amusing/ironic that during hunting season, there's not a deer in sight, but here in early spring they are hanging out right near our house. :) I don't think they are as dumb as we might like to think!

I was feeling sad that we have (more) snow predicted for tonight, but seeing the white stuff you still have on the ground makes me wish for spring with you even harder! we have maybe an inch left and I guess I need to be thankful! Sending the "balmy" 40's your way!!
