2 Degrees and All's Well :)

So, not only are we buried in snow, but last night and today have been COLD. Unfortunately, not only is the weather cold, but I also have a cold. Fun, fun! I'm trying to rest up and drink liquids, especially tea, which tastes really good at this time of year. :)

The kids and I braved the cold today and ventured out to get groceries. I also picked up a couple new yarn colors to make more dishcloths--hooray! Just the thing to help me feel better. :) We got going later than usual, not leaving the house till after 11 am. A dumb move on my part, since by the time we got through Hannaford, I was pretty hungry. So I used about $10 from the remainder of my Christmas money and took the kids to lunch at the Subway in Walmart. It was a treat for them (they got pizza) and for me too. That gave us the boost we needed to zoom through Walmart and then we headed home. We spent the afternoon being lazy and staying cozy. I am SO thankful for our woodstove!

I wanted to say a great big happy birthday to my sister-in-law, Joanne! Hope you have had a great day!! I also wanted to send out big congratulations to my friend Alicia, whose new baby boy was born on Sunday. I am so happy for you and hope you all adjust quickly to having a new little one in the house!

Our ice cream maker is supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I am super excited about that! We should be able to make some ice cream by Sunday. Yippee! I'll let you all know how it turns out. Well, I suppose I should go heat up some leftovers for supper. Hope you all have a great night!

Thanks for the congrats on your blog! I feel rather famous now. :)

Bummer about your cold. Sounds like you've got the comforts you need to help you mend quickly. I'm always in the mood for hot tea. Did the kids avoid your cold thus far?

You are so funny:). Ice cream in 2 degree weather - hee, hee. I wonder if you'll eat it next to your woodstove. I wish that you could send all of us a taste of the yummy results. I'd like to concoct a recipe for Lemon Meringue Pie ice cream one of these days. I had it at Friendlys a few years ago and it was superb! It was a Limited Edition and I have not seen it since:(. Oh well, I probably don't need it anyway.

I am so sorry that you are fighting a cold. I hope that you will feel better very quickly. Are pregnant woman allowed to use Zicam or other products containing lots of zinc? Supposedly, works really well to shorten the duration of a cold and reduce the misery. I am not sure if it's safe while you're pregnant - I haven't researched it.

Well, I hope that you have a super weekend. How has your sciatica been these days? Did travel make it act up at all? I'll keep you in my prayers.

P.S. I made your Lemon cake for my family and it was delightful! Needless to say, it didn't last too long:).
