Happy New Year!!

Don't you love this new addition to my kitchen? This little moose guy was a gift from my brother and sister-in-law. It makes me smile just to look at him!

I'm enjoying this afternoon of the last day of the year. My crockpot is busily cooking supper for me; I just have to make some rice and biscuits or cornbread a little later. We don't have any big plans for New Year's Eve . . . but I'm sure we will NOT be staying up to see the new year in! We'll probably just have a cozy evening at home and play a few games or something. We've been getting snow on and off all day--just what we needed. ;) I'm guessing we have about 4-5" of fresh snow. I guess we got off easy; towns an hour south of us got about a foot! We are running out of places to plow it, and it's only the beginning of winter!

Tomorrow I plan to share some of my goals for the new year. One of them is to learn how to crochet. I've been inspired by both my mom and sister-in-law, as well as a few friends who crochet. A few years ago I taught myself the basics of knitting, but I'm ashamed to say I haven't picked it up since before Julia was born. Anyway, with the help of some online instructions and my mom, I've started into crocheting. It's addictive! So far I've made 2 dishcloths (I absolutely love handmade cloths for washing dishes with--so nice and scrubby!), which you can see below. I loved how fast they were to make, and I was pleased with the finished products. The yarn was Peaches & Creme cotton from Walmart, in the Pink Lemonade color. Now I am itching to get more yarn so I can dive into more dishcloths! :)
I wish you all a happy New Year!!

!!!!!! Happy New Year !!!!!!!!
I am looking forward to reading your goals for 2008!
I think my top one will be to do better training my little guy to behave as he just destroyed the office in a matter of seconds. Now he is on my lap trying to undo all my tax work from today!
We are getting lots of snow too! The kids built a huge wall around the igloo & I took a few minutes earlier in the day to go sliding with the two youngest. Have a great end of the year. -Joey
