Labor Day Adventures at Story Land

Sorry I have not blogged much lately! We had a busy week, combined with the fact that Julia and I came down with colds, and most of the weekend was spent trying to catch up on rest and get some energy. Thankfully, after laying low on Saturday and Sunday, we were feeling lots better by Monday. The adventure we had planned for Labor Day was a trip to Story Land, in Glen, NH. Some of you may remember that last year we took a trip to Heritage, NH (which is sadly no longer open). Heritage and Story Land were both created by the Morrell family, although Story Land is now owned by a larger entertainment company in PA. Anyway . . . it's a completely wonderful family park, wholeheartedly geared to children. It's not cheap, but this year both Sam and Julia were still young enough to get in for free. And we spent almost the whole day there, to squeeze every bit out of the admission fee. :) My parents and nieces joined us, and everyone had a super time! Without further ado, here's a little peek into our fun day:

Jim & the kids at Story Land Junction
Sarah & Kenzie waiting for the train
The Huff, Puff, & Whistle train comes around the bend
Julia & Sam "driving" a tractor in the farmyard area
Jim & Sam on the Flying Fish ride (this was one of Sam's favorite rides, and they went on it 3 times!)
Sam & Mommy on the Great Balloon Chase (a ferris wheel where the seats were inside "hot air balloons")
Sam on the carousel
A notorious baby pirate
Arrrr, matey!
The pirate ship
Mommy & tired Julia
And on the way home from our very full and fun day, we stopped and took a few pictures of the Mt. Washington hotel. I thought it looked so pretty at this time of evening, as the glow from the setting sun illuminated it. This is one of NH's few grand hotels from many years ago, which is still in business today. Click to enlarge the picture if you want a better view!

I hope that you and Julia are feeling 100% again. The pictures are awesome! I went to Story Land once with my grandparents. We also enjoyed Santa's Village a few times:).
The picture of the hotel is magnificent! What a beautiful view you were able to capture.

How fun! I really want to go to Story Land; I've been saying that for two years in a row! Hopefully next summer we will be able to go! Looks like you all had a blast and I enjoyed seeing the pictures.

Hope you are all feeling well now. Hannah had a stomach bug over the weekend, so we were home from church, too! Thankfully, the rest of us escaped unscathed.

I love the picture of the hotel. I would love to have a getaway there sometime! Maybe for our 10th anniversary next year...looks like PEI will be like the 20th or something. Anyway, have a great rest of the week!

Wow, I'm still awed that you find so many unique family activities to go to! Chloe would have been awed by that flying fish ride too. Love how Julia's tiny head doesn't nearly fill up that pirate poster. ;)

I've always wanted to stay at the Mt. Washington Hotel. Maybe on our anniversary.

We didn't get to Storyland this year. Maybe next...

Nice pictures! It's always fun to see Sarah and Kenzie! They've grown so much! Josh said he wouldn't have recognized them. I like the picture of you and Sam as well. We've never been to the Mt. Washington hotel. It looks beautiful! Hope you're doing well and have a happy Monday instead of moody. :) See you Thursday.
