Pictures from this week

It's late, and I really need to get to bed, but I just wanted to quickly post some pictures from this week.

Jim has brought home a few bikes from the dump and free piles in people's yards, over the past couple years. On Monday, he concocted some training wheels and put them on a bike for Sam. He isn't quite able (or willing) to try riding without Daddy's helping hand yet, but he sure does enjoy having a big boy bike to start learning on.
Here is Julia, playing in the garage and having a blast getting dirty! (Or should I say, "sawdusty." :))

I got Sam a set of little plaster trains at Walmart, along with some poster paints. He has been having so much fun painting them! They are really cheap and I figure it is a good way to encourage his creativity. :) Plus it's a nice quiet activity that keeps him busy for a while!
Julia conked out in the highchair while Sam was painting and I was sewing!
Jim and I went out for a belated anniversary celebration last night. We went to one of our favorite little summer takeout places, and it was a beautiful night to eat outside. Our self-taken picture even came out pretty good, for a change! I'm wearing the new shirt that I just finished sewing yesterday--I love it!--but you can't see much of it in the picture. I'm planning to make a coordinating skirt, and will post pics of the whole outfit when I get that finished.
We picked blueberries again today at my grandparents' house, and after a while Sean stopped by with Sarah and Kenzie. I was glad I had the camera with me; I got several nice pictures of the cousins. Kenzie is like a little mama; she really enjoyed holding Julia. :)
Today was our town's Old Home Day (I think that's a New England thing), and we went to the parade, and also hit the annual booksale at the library. We came home with a boatload of books (well, 16 to be exact)--mostly kids' educational type books, which should be great for future homeschooling. Jim and the kids had fun looking at a Marguerite Henry book about horses.
And now . . . I'm really heading for bed! Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

You make me so want to live in New England! Sounds like there are oodles of fun and unique activities to partake of. You MUST show us that shirt you sewed! I just finished a shirt for myself too and am about to dive into a second one. Did I mention how envious I am of your blueberry picking? What do you plan to do with your berries?

Hi Carrie,
I hope that my other comment went through, sometimes I tend to mess it up somehow and I have to write another one. Perhaps I am being too hasty in posting it *sigh*. Just in case I goofed again, the pictures are super. The one of you and Jim is frame-worthy.:)
I want to make your crockpot lasagna but I cannot find the no-cook noodles. Can I still make it if I cook the noodles ahead of time? Would I need to cut down/out the water? Let me know what you would suggest.
Today, I bought the Sunday paper and scoped out the Wal-Greens and CVS ads. I was impressed with your savings at Rite-Aid a little while ago and was inspired. I am a new at all these Register Rewards and Extra Bucks Rewards but hopefully I will use them correctly. I'll let you know if I actually save money. It's been a huge burden of mine to become more frugal especially now that I do not bring in an income.
Sorry to ramble on. Have a great Monday!

I love the pictures of you and your family. The kiddies are so cute. By the way, do you happen to be on facebook?

Sandra, thanks! And yes, I am on Facebook--just joined last weekend, actually, and have had fun catching up with some old friends. :) I'll go look you up.

Your children are ADORABLE!!! They look like they are a ton of fun, too!!

I'm envious that you can sew. I have attempted on my own before, but got the pattern confused. Sigh. I need to take some serious lessons! :)
