8 Interesting Facts About Me

Rachel tagged me to do this meme, so here goes. I really don't lead that interesting of a life, LOL . . . but here are eight things you may or may not know about me. :)

1. When I was about 5 or 6, I really thought it would be cool to have glasses and crutches. (What was I thinking??!) Well, I've worn glasses or contacts since I was seven . . . but I only have had to use crutches once . . . when I sprained my ankle in high school.

2. I attended 3 kinds of schools while growing up: "traditional" Christian school using A Beka curriculum for K-2nd grade; a very small ACE school for 3rd-8th grade; and Christian boarding school using mostly BJU curriculum for 9th-12th grade.

3. Between camp and DCA, I've climbed Mt. Monadnock about 7-8 times. We climbed it every summer at camp and at the beginning of every school year (unless it rained). I believe it is (or used to be) the most climbed mountain in the world. (Oops, just checked--it's the 2nd most climbed, after Mt. Fuji.)

4. I took piano lessons from the time I was 5 till I was 13, then quit. I probably should have kept going . . . but I tried to keep improving on my own. I also played piano for our church off and on over the years, and taught piano lessons for about 4 years after I got married, but quit when I had Sam.

5. I gave birth to Sam at DHMC in Lebanon, NH, and gave birth to Julia at home in our bathtub. :) Of the two, I much preferred the homebirth and hope to have more homebirths in the future! (Although I may buy a bigger birth tub for next time, to have a little more space--we will see. :))

6. Even though I can read music, I find it almost impossible to sing any parts, other than melody. I also have no natural rhythm--I tried cheerleading once, and discovered how very uncoordinated and un-rhythmical I was!!!

7. Math was never my favorite subject, but I liked geometry far better than algebra. However, I got better grades in algebra than geometry . . .strange, huh?

8. I had bangs my entire life until I was 17. Then I grew them out and have never looked back! Funny story: I grew out my bangs and also got contacts the summer between my junior and senior year of high school. When I returned to school that fall, one of my friends, Peter, kind of did a double take and said, "Carrie, is that YOU?" LOL.

Hope you have all had fun reading this. I tag my mom, and anyone else who wants to do this--even if you don't have a blog, you can do it in the comments if you want.

Just to add to your first point, you also wished for (and got) braces on your teeth.

So I've been tagged, eh? I'll see what I can do.. no promises of getting it done today!

That is so funny that you WANTED glasses. I have had them since 4th grade and would gladly give them up. I wear contacts most of the time now though.
Thanks for participating in this. It's actually kind of fun to see what people write about themselves. It sounds as though you have had a VERY interesting life - being a wife and mom keeps you on your toes:).
Have you tried any new recipes lately? I love your idea of taking photos. I am SO visual and am more likely to try a recipe that has a photo. Anyway, have a super day.

I wanted glasses too! I even bought fake ones during my first year of teaching so that I would look older and more like a teacher. :)

I've never even heard of Mt. Monadnock. Where is it?

I'm sure the proofs and theorems to memorize got you in geometry. The concepts are easy enough to see but there are always so many steps to doing those crazy proofs! :)

Do you still play piano at church?
