God blessed us this week with a new(er) Suburban! Last week as I was driving to the beach with the kiddos, I noticed a Suburban for sale on the side of the road. I told Jim about it later and he went to look at it. It's 4 years newer than our current Suburban (not NEW, by any means, but in very good shape), is a 4 wheel drive (something we really wanted for me, before next winter), and the asking price was very good. Even better, Jim was able to talk them down and we got it for $700 less than the asking price. :) We now have it registered and inspected, and Jim is busy this afternoon fixing a few little things on it. Hopefully we will be driving it all over the place by this weekend! The only major thing we want to do to it before starting to drive it full time, is to thoroughly clean the inside. Former owner had a dog . . . who apparently lived in the back . . . so we will probably rent a steam cleaner and see how spiffy we can make it. Final touch will be investing in a
Yankee Candle "car jar" for freshening the air. :) Now, pray that we can sell our old 'Burban for about the same as what we have into the new one! It would be nice to make back some or all of what we spent.
On Friday we will be taking Sam to a "Day Out with Thomas" event. I am so excited!! We haven't told him about it yet, and probably won't until we're on our way. I can't wait to see how much fun he has. I'm also excited to hopefully do a little outlet shopping the same day. It would be a crime to go to a town with great outlets and not go in them, don't you think? :D
I am enjoying a rare moment when both children are napping at the same time. I need to get busy and make up my grocery list for tomorrow, but I just wanted to pamper myself and take a few minutes to blog. How funny that a few quiet minutes to blog is my idea of "pampering" myself . . . but it is something that I find to be really fun and relaxing.
Yesterday I got myself motivated to do some cleaning in my kitchen. I'm desperately trying to get back on track with Flylady routines, so to start off right (and bring a smile to my face) I first of all shined my sink. I also cleaned off and reorganized a counter top, washed my dish drainer, silverware drawer, and contents, and cleaned off the top of my refrigerator (which is currently an extra storage area for cereals, etc.). I was SO happy with the end result--that whole end of my kitchen was sparkling. Today I have been busy with the kiddos and some company, so I haven't been able to do more than some quick surface cleaning, but I'm hoping to do more in the kitchen tomorrow if I get a chance. It felt so rewarding to accomplish so much.
Well, off I go to make up menus and a grocery list. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Wow, your sink looks FANTASTIC!!
Good for you Carrie. (o:
Oh and congrats on the new (to you) Suburban!
That is one amazingly shiny sink!! It must be fun to have a stainless steel one to shine now instead of the old brown one at the trailer.
Hope you all have a wonderful time (especially Sam) at the Day Out With Thomas. Take lots of photos!
We have a porcelin (I know that is not spelled right) sink, it looks great for about a week (unless my little coffee boy cleans the coffee pot in it and does not clean it up quickly) than it needs to be soft scrubbed - it really needs it now. I set aout to do that about 4hours ago - mabye I'll get to it before bed. Funny the kitchen can be clean, but if the sink is not scrubbed I don't feel it is done.
I hope your enjoying your "new" suburban.
Hope you get more time to "pamper" yourself - You'll have to let us all know how big Julia is getting. She is adorable in pink!!!!!!
Mrs. B--thanks for your sweet comments! :)
Mrs. T--yes, it is fun to shine stainless steel and it looks SO much better than brown! We've contemplated replacing it eventually with a white cast iron one, though (a bigger one width-wise), but I don't know if we ever will.
Joey--hope you were able to get to your sink scrubbing!:) You are right about how having the sink clean makes the difference on the whole kitchen feeling clean.
I haven't driven the new Suburban yet, but hopefully soon. We are hoping to get some new carpet for the floor as the old one is pretty nasty with smells and stains. Jim took the whole back piece out and got it looking pretty decent, but he's now thinking he'd rather just get a new one.
I'll try to do a little update post on Julia soon. She is getting bigger and cuter all the time! :) I'd love to see new pics of your little guy, too . . . hint hint! :)
