It's been a busy day, or feels like it (I'm tired!), even though I actually didn't get a whole lot done today. We slept in a little bit (as much as Sam would let us, anyway), then after a while Jim loaded up all our trash and recycling, and we headed to the dump. Then to the gas pumps to fill up the Suburban . . . then a quick stop at my parents' house, then home again. After lunch, Jim started on some work on the house, and Sam took a nap. Jim had hoped to work on more siding today, but in between rain showers and not wanting to be pounding on the outside wall of Sam's room while he was napping, he didn't get started on that. However, he did hook up an electrical box outside, and then finally got the rest of our living room outlets hooked up, complete with outlet covers!! Makes the whole living room look more finished (as long as you don't look up at our silver foil, "space age" ceiling, that is!). Jim also got our little pool cleaned up and refilled today.
In the meantime, I was dealing with a fussy baby who either wanted to nurse or cry for what seemed like ALL day! She also made lots of dirty diapers for me to change! When I wasn't holding and/or feeding her, I was popping her into the swing or bouncy seat in order to take Sam to the potty . . . and he was on sort of a "strike" today, not wanting to go in the potty nearly as much as he has been . . . so by late afternoon I was feeling a bit worn out and frustrated! I finally determined that Julia didn't have a wet or dirty diaper, or a tummy ache, and certainly couldn't be hungry anymore, so I put her in her bed and let her cry. Within about 5 minutes she was out. This was around 4:30, and she is still asleep as of 9:30! Now it will be interesting to see what kind of a night we have. I predict she will awake soon and spend the night nursing while I sleep. :) I should be in bed now, but I'm waiting for a load of laundry to finish washing so I can pop it in the dryer and have some more clothes ready for tomorrow.
After getting Julia into bed, I was able to relax, help Jim a bit, and even paint my toenails and bake muffins. Plus, I grilled hamburgers for supper! This was my first attempt at using the grill by myself, and Jim claimed that the burgers were better than the ones he makes. I disagreed, but I must say they did turn out yummy! I was very happy to get my toenails done again with a new color. They've been star-spangled since the 4th of July, and were starting to look pretty chippy. I tried a new color called Jamaican Rum and it's very pretty! The muffins I made were mostly for Jim to take to his Sunday School class tomorrow, but I made extra so we will have some for breakfast, too. I tried a new recipe, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. From nibbling a few crumbs, I would say they are a make-again. :)
All in all, it's been a good day.

Zan--yes, it's definitely a life saver! :) Don't know why I couldn't get the hang of it with Sam, but it has been easy with Julia!
Mindee--I know, it was such a bummer that we had to eat them ALL . . .:D I'll share the recipe with you though. :) Jim's neck is a lot better now.
I also wondered if you would share the muffin recipe or tell me where you found it, if it's in a magazine or cookbook I might have. It sounds yummy! (Not that I plan on doing any baking today!)
Hi Mom! I'll try and post the muffin recipe later today. I got it from the TOH database--think it may have been from a Country Extra.
