Favorite Summer Drinks

I just love the taste of cool, refreshing drinks in summertime. Plain water is wonderful, of course, and I drink that all year round . . . but I especially enjoy iced tea and lemonade. Here are a couple yummy recipes for iced green tea, and cranberry lemonade. The tea recipe came from somewhere on the internet (I have no idea where, anymore, as I found it last summer!) and the lemonade recipe is from Taste of Home magazine, June/July 2004.

Iced Green Tea

12 cups boiling water
12 green tea bags
1 cup sugar
4 T. lemon juice
4 T. orange juice

After the water boils, turn off heat and steep tea bags in water for 5-7 minutes. Discard tea bags; stir in sugar, lemon juice and orange juice, until sugar is dissolved. Chill. Serve over ice and enjoy!

Cranberry Lemonade

3/4 cup sugar
2/3 cup lemon juice
3 cups cold water
1 cup cranberry juice

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and lemon juice. Cook and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Stir in the water and cranberry juice. Cool; pour into a pitcher. Refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice. Yield: 4 servings

Of course, both of these recipes may be halved or doubled according to your preference!

Oooooooohh, these sound yummy. I have green tea in my pantry - I'll have to give this recipe a try. Maybe this way my hubby will drink green tea. He usually thinks it tastes like wet socks. :)

I can testify that both of these recipes are yummy. I've been making the iced tea recipe since Carrie shared it with me last summer. The cranberry lemonade is so refreshing -- it will be a regular around here this summer, for sure!
