Decluttering/Decorating Challenge--Week 1 :)

Well, I didn't officially plan to give myself a decluttering and decorating challenge right now, especially since I am heading into the last weeks of pregnancy, and energy is at a minimum. However, I did have one day this week where I did some decluttering (filled up a whole garbage bag, in fact!) and a bit of decorating in the bedroom, so I wanted to share. I'm not going to set specific goals for myself at this point in time, but when I do get something profitable accomplished in my home, I will share it. Hopefully I'll have time to do a little something every week. I cleaned out under the bed and reorganized stuff under there, making it a lot neater. I also straightened up one corner of the bedroom--"my" corner, where I have my beautiful Amish rocker and a few other feminine touches. I just hung up the lovely lace wallhanging that a dear friend sent me for my birthday, and I think it ended up looking really nice there. Here's a picture:

We had some good friends over tonight for supper, and that was lots of fun. The kids all had a great time playing together. I'm so thankful for good Christian friends who we can share fellowship with!

I'm tired now, and heading to bed . . . Hopefully tomorrow I will get a chance to post some more pictures. I want to show off our new deck, and maybe show the progress Jim is making in our guest bath, as well as post one or two pictures of Sam's most recent haircut. It made him look older! But for now . . . it's been a long day, so nighty night! :)

Good work! That space looks great!

I get my decluttering/organizing inspiration from Flylady. (I see a link to her, so maybe you do to.) I LOVE throwing junk away! Since we're moving in a just a few short weeks (6 or so) and most of our stuff will be in storage for 4 years while we're overseas, I'm on a mission to get rid of LOTS. I'm trying to be very brutal and non-emotional. :)

That's the sad thing about those haircuts - they make them look so old. Luke's grandmas keep pestering me to get his hair cut. I just don't really want to yet. I like the curls; most kids don't have them, why would I want to cut his off? But, I feel like giving him a little trim. Maybe one of these nights I'll work up the guts. :)

Nice job preg-o. :) How much longer do you have to wait to meet your new little one? And what's your email address so I can send you Jenny's zipper shortcut?

Katie, thanks for the comment! :) I like Flylady too, but since I got pregnant with this one I seem to have lost my motivation to stick with the zones and all. I'm hoping to get back on track with a cleaning/decluttering schedule sometime after the baby's born. :)

Hey, take your time getting Luke's haircut--he's your kid, after all, so it is up to you! :) He does have adorable curls!

Alicia, I have anywhere from one (yikes!) to 4 weeks before the little one comes along! I can safely have a homebirth anytime April 24-25, so I'm aiming for that week or the next, but we'll see when God sends him/her! :) I'll email you for the zipper shortcut, thanks!

Carrie,
I'm so glad to get back in touch with you. Truthfully I don't know when my next baby is due. I will be finding out Wednesday when they do the ultrasound. The baby will come approximately between the middle of October and November 10.

I wish I could get myself motivated to do some decluttering and packing. JA and I both will graduate with our MA degrees in Three weeks. However, we don't yet know where we will be moving to.

I will try to keep up with your blog as well.
