Thanks to all of you who left comments with birthday wishes for our little guy! He had a wonderful time at his party, as I'm sure you will be able to tell from the pictures. Not only was "Thomas the Tank Engine" the theme for the party, but he also received a bunch of Thomas and train-related presents, so he was one happy camper! I may not remember everything he got, but here is at least a partial list: Thomas sippy cups, a "Take-Along Thomas" sawmill (so cute!), more straight wooden track, 2 engines--Diesel 10 and the Big City Engine, Thomas sneakers, 2 Thomas coloring books, a Thomas t-shirt, and a train puzzle, and a book of Thomas & friends Railway Rhymes. I'm sure I've probably left something out . . . he also received a shirt and shorts outfit and a book, "Jeremy: The Tale of an Honest Bunny," which were NOT Thomas themed! Oh, and another outfit from us, as well as his bunkbed, which was his big gift from Jim and me. As well as a number of cards and some birthday money. So, he definitely made out like a bandit. :) He has been having a blast playing with all his new things over the past couple days. It was so much fun to watch him getting excited about his birthday party. Jim took him out of the way for the morning, so I could decorate his cake and set the table, etc. He thought it was pretty cool when he came in and noticed the Thomas tablecloth! When the party was over and everyone had gone home, he kept saying, "More Day-day Party?" and "More Happy Day-Day?" Tomorrow night we will be celebrating my niece Sarah's birthday (she and Sam share a birthday, only she turned 5 this year!) and it'll be interesting to see what he thinks of going to someone else's "Day-day Party." Probably he won't care, as long as he gets to eat cake and see some of his favorite people. :)
Here are some pictures from his party:

GREAT CAKE Carrie! You did an excellent job. Looks like Sam had a perfect party. :) You need to get into these pictures . . . my sister-in-law just rebuked me about that. I'm always the photographer but never a photo subject. :) Has your Sam instantly become terrible now that he's 2? ;)
Alicia
The cake looks great! The boys loved it.
Thanks for the compliments on the cake! Sam loves looking back at the pictures of it, too. :) Joanne, glad the boys enjoyed seeing it--wish you all could have been here to help eat it!
Oh, and Alicia--he's definitely working on it! We're finding we have to crack down on discipline a bit more these days--it really was a like a little switch turned on to "terrible" when he hit 2! But not all the time, thankfully!
